Are you constantly on alert, craving safety but fearing danger is just around the corner? Do you find it hard to connect with others, or feel uncomfortable in social situations? What would your life look like if you felt Safe and Sound?

Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a five-day auditory intervention designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience. Based on Dr. Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, by calming the physiological and emotional state, the door is opened for improved communication and more successful therapy.

The SSP is a research-based therapy showing significant results in just five days in the following areas:

  • Social and emotional difficulties

  • Auditory sensitivities

  • Anxiety and trauma related challenges

  • Inattention

  • Stressors that impact social engagement

Emotional and physiological state are critical to how we approach the task at hand. So when we have better state control, not only can we be more socially engaged, we are more open to change and better therapeutic outcomes.

Learn how our nervous system responds to cues of safety

How it works

This program is suitable for both children and adults. It is a non-invasive intervention that involves listening to music specifically processed to retune the nervous system (regulating state) to introduce a sense of safety and the ability to socially engage. This allows you to better interpret not only human speech but, importantly, the emotional meaning of language. Once interpersonal interactions improve, spontaneous social behaviors and an enhanced ability to learn, self-regulate and engage are often seen.

The program is best delivered over five consecutive days in the studio. Sessions are 75-minutes long, and include intake and outtake, as well as therapeutic treatment with tuning forks. The music itself lasts one hour as you lie comfortably on the table listening over headphones.

This program is a good fit if:

  • You or your child have a history of childhood ear infections, auditory processing or sensory difficulties, learning or attention disorders, or ASD

  • You or your child struggle with self-regulation and/or social situations

  • You or your child are challenged understanding the emotional meaning of language or gestures

  • You suffer from hyper-vigilance, unable to let down your guard or feel completely relaxed
  • You long to feel more safe, connected, calm and social

The program includes:

  • A focused listening assessment

  • Five consecutive 75-minute listening sessions accompanied by Brain Gym exercises and

  • Discount of $200 when combined with another program
